Dec 16, 2010- Auburn Ravine Area
This week, the Geezer Boyz hiked in the Auburn Ravine area- below the city of Auburn. The hike started at the confluence of the north and middle forks of the American River (see photo) and we hiked up the old Stagecoach Trail, back down to Rte 49 via the ranger station, then a short hike, avoilding traffic on the west shoulder of Rte 49 for about 1/4 mile to pick up the Robie Trail. That led us down to the Westen States Trail, returning to the start via the No Hands Bridge. The hike was accurately rated as moderately easy, and 6 miles long according to Sherms GPS! It was a beautiful day and quite warm considering how cold it was when we started.

Sorry I missed it. BUT, I had a great day at Disneyland with the grandkids. We had as nice weather as you had. Then it rained the next 4 days.I'm sure I hiked as far as you did that day. It was more treacherous what with "The Temple of Doom", "Pirates of the Caribbean" and run-a-way bob sleds down the slopes of the Matterhorn!
