April 5, 2011 and 7th - Snowshoeing & Biking

This week, a four man Geezer advance party took an early snowshoe adventure to Loon Lake to check on conditions for the main party who were planning to snowshoe on our usual Thursday. I gather from Sherm's report that there was a tremendous amount of snow and conditions were quite dangerous. Sherm reports some 14 ft of snow which covered many smaller trees. Picture 6 shows Sherm dropping into his waist and he would have had a lot of trouble getting out on his own. This hole was a buried 12 ft pine tree. There was no clue it was there. Was he surprised!

Pictures 7 and 8 shows a 14+ ft cavern. If you fall in there you wouldn't be out till the spring thaw. Picture 10 shows the vent stacks on the outhouse. Man that is a lot of snow.

So on Thursday, ten Geezers showed up at the Sierra College Blvd parking lot for a short (12 mile round trip) bike ride to old town Roseville with a stop at In-and-Out Burger on the way back. Sorry, no photos of this lovely bike trail.

ARE YOU A GEEZER?
WHENEVER YOU WAX NOSTALGIC, EVEN IF YOU CAN'T REMEMBER WHERE YOU PUT YOUR HIGH SCHOOL YEARBOOK, YOU CAN STILL SEE PICTURES OF ALL YOUR OLD FRIENDS BY LOOKING IN THE OBITUARIES!
