At Sherms urging (or was it Glenn), seven of the eleven (Loren, Glenn, Sherm, JD, Dominic, Rich and Merrill) decided to get a better view of the area by ascending the granite outcropping behind Bassi Falls. After scrambling up steep granite slopes, winding through dense and bloody (Geezer blood) manzanita, and meandering through towering cedars, pines, firs and oaks, they discovered an abandoned jeep road that led to the overlook of the valley below. The granite outcroppings, views of Bassi Falls, the Union Valley reservoir, and the snow capped peaks in the Desolation Wilderness were spectacular. The descent was much easier as they were able to find another old road, and open rocks, avoiding the bloody manzanita. Roland re-named the granite outcroppings "Mount Sherm" and the "Marshall Inland Passage".
The day was completed at McDonald's for Geezer ice cream. PLEAS NOTE THERE ARE LOTS OF PHOTOS THIS WEEK SO GRAB AN ICE TEA OR COFFEE AND ENJOY!
