August 9, 2012 - Lake Tahoe Bike Ride

Our annual Lake Tahoe was once again a huge success, with much cooler weather at Tahoe than in the central valley. Loren, Larry, Merrill, Rod, Roland, John, Bill, Glenn, Rich, Vern (T) and Vello made up this weeks group. The bike trail starts at Squaw Valley and runs along the scenic river trail towards Tahoe City, before turning south towards Homewood. On our return, we first lunched by the lake then headed for our well earned Ice Cream Extravaganza (courtesy of Safeway) close to Tahoe City. The group were like a bunch of little kids, all ready with spoons and bowls waiting for John and Roland to return from the store with three large cartons of ice cream. This was a nice reward following such a harduous bike ride!!! One or two guys ventured out for a swim while others just watched or snoozed! Our ride was 26 miles long and just too enjoyable to only do once a year. Perhaps another day like this should be considered for early October?
