Sept 1, 2011 - Lyons Creek & Lake

There were only eight Geezerboyz this week, Loren -1, Loren-2, Glenn, Sherm, Larry, Wayne, Beuford and Roland. We hiked a reported 3 miles up to Lyons Creek but it turned out to be 4 1/2 miles one way!!! The hike started at Elev. 6720 and some reached an elevation of 8400 at Lyon's Lake. It was another spectacular flower show and the water in the creek was low enough to enjoy lunch on the granite slabs and we were able to literally cool our heals in the creek. After lunch, Sherm Loren -2 and Glenn continued their hike about another mile up to Lyons Lake. There was still a little snow around the Lake, but that didn't stop Loren and Glenn from taking a quick dip in icy cold water. This was a spectacular hike but there were some very tired souls when we got back to the cars.

  1. It was a tough hike. Somehow I don't remember it being so steep or so long! Funny how a year can do that!!
We worked so hard and endured a short lunch and still didn't have time for an ice cream stop. Something has GOT to change!!!
