Aug 5, 2010 - Woods Lake & Lake Winnemucca

The Geezers hiked from Woods Lake (Elev. 8200) to Lake Winnemucca (Elev. 9000), climbing over a pass at Elev. 9500 to Round Top Lake (9300 Elev.) Some stopped for lunch Round Top Lake, others decided to hike to the top of Elephant Back (Elev. 9600), whilst others used binoculars. Woods Lake is located south of Hwy 88 east of Caples Lake (near Carson Pass)and was fairly rated by John as as moderate- not too long but moderate climbing (1300' minimum). Wild flowers in the area were prolific.

  2. Hi Guys,
Hello from warm, green and beautiful Arizona. Last night, Nancy and I were in the back yard enjoying the coolness that comes between monsoon storms and we have had a lot of them this Summer. I'm not kidding, SaddleBrooke and the Sonoran Desert are really green and lush. The Bird of Paradise is really beautiful and the barrel cactus is now in bloom. Bu the way, the scab I got on my leg when I slipped on the rock up by Elephant Back came off this morning. I am whole again, ha ha.
Anyway, thanks for letting me come on your short walk - it was great fun. April is a great time to come to Southern Arizona and we have a lot of room here. Come and see us.
Ya'll take care and God Bless.
