July 8, 2010, Mt. Judah,
Geezers hiked to Mt. Judah (elev. 8243)- in the Donner Pass area. John rated this hike as moderate- it's about 1200' of climbing and 4.5 miles for the complete loop (Donner Peak, Mt. Judah and Roller Pass (better known as "Roland's Slide of Death" - see 2009 photo below). Roland rated the hike as difficult due to the long climb on slippery rocks and shale. There was still snow to be seen but the wild flowers were in full bloom. On the return trip home we stopped by Pine Valley Reservoir (at Yuba Gap?) to check out the possibility of kayaking there in the next couple of weeks. July 8th, the Geezers hiked to Mt. Judah (elev. 8243)- in the Donner Pass area. John rated this hike as moderate, I rated it as "TOUGH" - it's about 1200' of climbing and 4.5 miles (felt like 9 miles) for the complete loop (Donner Peak, Mt. Judah and Roller Pass (better known as "Roland's Slide of Death")). The snow was still present but the wild flowers were in full bloom. On the return trip home we stopped by Pine Valley Reservoir (at Yuba Gap?) and check out the possibility of kayaking there in the next couple of weeks.
